How Do I Turn Off Object Snap To Grid In Word For Mac

Turn on the snap-to options Select View on the ribbon, and in the Show group, select the dialog-box launcher. The Grid and Guides dialog box appears. To position shapes or objects to the closest intersection of the grid, under Snap to, check the Snap objects to grid box.

When you're placing an object - say a graph, you click and drag, and at first it doesn't move. Then it jumps. You try to move it back a little, and it snaps back to its initial position. It's sort of like a grid with only one vertex, positioned relative to the object position when you start the drag.
Very useful, sometimes.. very annoying other times.
Can you disable it?
In a related question, is there a way to fine tune a position using numbers - as in move an object an absolute value, 4 pixels or millimeters right or something?
Thanks (sorry if it's a stupid question, really can't figure it out), Mike
